Interview with Leon Bratt

Let me talk to you all about Leon Bratt who I feel has a lot to offer the world of music which can be heard on his debut release ‘Atmosphere’ EP. But before I talk about his EP, I want to introduce you to the man himself.

Leon has been involved with music since an early age and has learned to play the drums, bass, piano, harmonica and his favourite, the guitar. It was only natural that he would eventually go on to create his own art which has already seen him win the Acoustic Category at ‘Live & Unsigned’ (2012) and Mecca Bingo’s Star Search (2015). He has also performed across the UK and at festivals including Osfest, Looe Music Festival and Folk on the Water. Leon is currently working as a professional body piercer but he would like to make music a full time profession. I wanted to find out a little more about Leon Bratt so I thought I would contact him and see if he would like to answer some questions that I had. He was more than happy to get involved and this is what answers he had for me:

Was there a moment or someone that inspired you to become a musician?

When I was 6, I picked up my Grandad’s guitar. He told me I could make it talk and that has stuck with me ever since!

Once this decision was made, were there any musicians who help influence your music and it’s sound?

I grew up listening to a wide variety of genres from Jazz to Metal and everything in between! My biggest influences were Hendrix, Slash & Neil Young. I used to be in a metal/reggae band throughout the school years.. After that is when I ventured into the solo career with just me and my acoustic guitar.

For new fans out there, what singles/EP’s/Albums has you released so far?

I released my debut EP ‘Atmosphere’ earlier this year. I released 3 singles from the EP separately whilst having a nice little video for the lead track ‘Atmosphere’.

From the songs you have created which is your favourite songs and why?

I would say my favourite songs that I have released are ‘Body Piercer’ and ‘Atmosphere’. ‘Body Piercer’ is a song about my day job. I hadn’t heard a song like it so thought why not write a song about it! I loved the making of ‘Atmosphere’ as it is a 6 minute, chilled out track that takes you on a journey of metaphors.

What can people expect from your shows?

Piercings, tattoos and a lot of hair! Other than that, you can expect a chilled out, sing-a-long evening and a variety of genres if I’m doing covers in the set.

If the end of the world was near and you had enough time to listen to one album, which would you choose?

‘Pink Floyd – Division Bell’ without a doubt! This album means a lot to me and has many memories for family and friends.

What are your future plans and goals for your music?

The ultimate goal is to be selling out arenas and stadiums right? I say if you have an insane goal, there is always more to achieve.

Finally, is there anything you like to say to any new listeners out there or maybe to any of your fans who are ready this?

A huge thank you to the fans who have supported me so far as I couldn’t do it without them. To the new listeners I really hope to see you at a gig soon. Come down and we’ll have a great time!

So, is Leon Bratt’s EP ‘Atmosphere’ any good? Yes it is and let me tell you why. I was first introduced to his music after I was asked to listen to his track ‘Atmosphere’. It was his soulful tone supported by a cool acoustic sound that caught my attention. It reminded me a little of the softer side of Jason Mraz but still had Leon’s own sound. As the song continued I started to notice an impressive lyrical talent and all of this made me eager to hear more.

Each track offers something a little different but they all share a chilled out vibe which can be heard within his vocals and guitar style. This combination is part of the reason why people are drawn to his music. With songs like ‘In My Dreams’ and ‘Let Tomorrow Begin’ you can understand the appeal. However, for me it is his lyrical talents that impress me the most and this is thanks to his song ‘Texas’. I like how all of the songs beforehand have a catchy feel to them but this one has a great storytelling quality that makes you sit and pay attention. I would like to hear more like this from him in the future.

Take a trip over to his Soundcloud page to give the EP a listen and I recommend you do as it won’t disappoint. If you want to grab a copy then you can get it from the usual online stores of iTunes and Amazon but you can also buy it direct from his website at

Leon may have a huge goal of selling out arenas and stadiums but with this crazy world of music you just never know what will happen. Personally, I’m looking forward to hear how his songwriting skills will develop as to me it still feels like he is finding his feet but with the talent he has shown so far I know his best is yet to come.

To follow the journey by Leon Bratt then you can check out his social media sites at Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, check out his website at where you can find out about his upcoming shows and as I mentioned earlier, you can also purchase his music from there.

I am a big believer in supporting the music that matters to you especially when it comes from unsigned and independent musicians. As I am liking Leon Bratt has created then I will be doing what I can to spread the word. If you feel the same then tell the world about him today!
